Carl W. McCrady, Ph.D., D.D.S.
Carl was born in the rural coal mining community
of Gary, West Virginia and grew up in Bristol, Virginia.
College:
College Of William & Mary (Williamsburg VA):
graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and
Psychology.Post-Graduate Education:
In 1983 Dr McCrady graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy in
Human Anatomy (PhD), and then in 1996 graduated Magna cum Laude with a
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical
College of Virginia (Richmond, VA).
During his dental school
training, Dr. McCrady was appointed to the faculty of the MCV dental school
and won the National Dental Student Research Competition sponsored by the
American Dental Association.
After earning his PhD, Dr. McCrady did
a post-doctoral Fellowship at the Limburger in the Cancer Research Center at
he University of North Carolina. Returning to a faculty appointment at the
Medical College of Virginia, he helped trained physicians, dentists, and
basics scientists. As a part of his research on the growth and development
of the immune system, he has published over 20 papers, developed new cancer
treatments and built the AIDS Research Lab at the Medical College of
Virginia. Dr. McCrady has been practicing dentistry since 1996 in Richmond
before joining Fredericksburg Dental Care in 2005.
Personal:
Carl has a daughter, Kate, who was born in 1985. She is
currently attending Lynchburg College. He also has a son, Aaron, born in
1988 that attends the University of Virginia.
Carl is a naturalist
and an avid sport fisherman with numerous state citations for trophy fish
caught and released. He also enjoys building his own fishing rods.
